CHAPTER 2: HER FEAR OF MEN

In the dark midnight sky, the group of stars were scattered around the bright crescent moon. The gauze-like clouds were floating in the sky, peacefully.

The night was quiet and deep just like Emaya’s slumber, however she could Hear the faint humming, laughing and inaudible sounds from time to time in her ear, breaking the peaceful silence.

Emaya’s long eyelashes slightly twitched as she slowly opened her eyes, staring blankly at the dark ceiling.

Mr Martin was probably drunk and being loud at this time, instead of sleeping and letting Emaya sleep.

Emaya yawned and sluggishly rubbed her eyes before she abruptly shot up as she realized the voices coming from the downstairs were not only her Step-father’s.

Emaya was wide awake, she took in some harsh breaths before hesitantly getting out of the bed.

Emaya was filled with bewilderment and trepidation, yet tried to stay calm as she gradually walked down the stairs, without making any noise.

She paused in her steps as she heard the unfamiliar voices got clearer and audible.

She could hear the loud chatters, filled with profanities, of the group of drunk men, laughing and gulping down the drinks.

Emaya stood there for a couple seconds, her stomach churning and her breath quickened. Every muscle in her body screamed at her to run away, yet she remained frozen.

With great difficulty, She finally took the last step forward and Terror washed over her, raising the fine hairs on the back of her neck. As she saw the scene in front of her.
