My Version of Midnight Sun

I'm always amazed by the way Stephenie Meyer wrote The Midnight Sun.

So I tried it myself. Though it's still far from 'good', trying is better than never.

Afterall, a book is a never ending draft, I can always make it better from time to time until it suits the readers' expectation.

Thus here they are, my version of Midnight Sun...

Let's see from the female character's POV first:

Adrienne.

And this lad beside Iron, showed one of the tall guys. The ones that the world needed. He looked so young and boyish with his clean jaw and full lips. His eyebrows were beautifully thick and curved added the masculine line of his jaw. His straight nose added the kindness showed in his deep brown eyes’ gaze. He was mysterious, yet lovely to see. All in all, if Daniel bled pheromones, this tall lad, bled bubbles of pheromones. If any woman could see, like I had just seen, they’d completely fall for him.

I could sense his strong kindness and persistent principles. Those were things most stand out about him. I might be fall, this might be love at the first sight until he smiled sincerely, and he had me at hello, just like that.

But I kept on hiding my being in awe because of his presence, when he shoved his hand to greet me with a wide smile showing two lines of perfect white teeth,

“Mekra…,” he paused like he wanted to continue with something but he continued with” call me anything you like “he had that smile to die for, but I was disturbed by another meaning of his smile.

“Adrienne, you can also call me anything, or just ‘Ne’, just like Iron usually call me” I didn’t know why I repeated almost all of his line. They said this happened when you fell in love. You tend to mirror what your loved one said or did.

But I tried to hide my amazement.

“I see that Iron already told you much about me” I acted my coolness.

“Oh, nothing out of the ordinary, except… ah by the way, will you accept my deepest condolences. I’m really sorry about your dad,” he held my right hand in his big right hand now added with the palm of his left hand. It was so warm and calming. I felt so safe. Especially when his smile faded and turned into deep sadness expression.

I was speechless because I could feel his sorrow of being sympathize to my dad’s death. He was so genuine. The perks of being an Empath, you could right away know what your opponent felt and for higher level of ability, you could read minds just like my dad. So, I accidentally opened my mouth a little bit. From being suspicious of Iron’s hidden agenda in introducing me to Mekra, to completely being silent because I could feel the beauty behind Mekra’s emotions. So deep and comforting.

He also looked like he was a noble one, like coming from a long line of royal families. Believe me, under his ordinary clothes of black t-shirt, jeans and jacket, I could see the nobility.

and here's his POV, my version of Midnight Sun

Mekra.

Then I stopped from my walking a few steps behind Iron when she unveiled her hoodie.

There in the flesh was a young woman in my dream with her bright silver hair. My forever dreams just came to live. I could see her blinding eyes smile from the place I stood that I felt like I needed sunglasses just to see her face clearly.

That warm smile, I swore I could sunbath in it. Grateful that I wasn’t a vampire. Unconsciously, I slightly opened my mouth, I was in awe. I felt in peace suddenly.

But I rushed next to Iron’s side when her gaze and I met. Her bright blue eyes shaded with mysteries when she looked at me. There was a slight sorrow there. But then my mind went blank.

A mate! All the look, the sense, the smell, the hunch, everything! She was my mate!

If I could I’d shake my head for not believing what I saw before me. But I held my figure not to look suspicious from drowning in my own thoughts.

If she were my mate, how could she be a human?

The probability was as thin as one ten of one piece of her silver hair.

Her silky look silver hair that I’d like to drown myself in, inhaling every bit of it. Tasting the smooth skin of her neck. Kissing her deep eyes, her button nose. Running my fingers through her sky slope down to the cupid’s bow, maybe lick a little there just to taste the tip of her lips.

Ahhh… her rosy pink lips that I’d like to bite a bit, then care them in my mouth. Maybe tasting them with the tip of my tongue…

Darn it! Focus, Mekra!

As I thought I fell for her in an instant. I only needed to find who she really was. If it was possible for her to be my mate, my Luna.

I’d ask Iron later of who she really was. Maybe she wasn’t merely human, a hybrid, or even a trybrid. Never seen a female wolf or a human woman as lovely as she was. For now, I needed to focus on the now, as she needed some shoulders to cry on after her dad’s death.

Good! Focus on the sympathy, leave your horny wolf in the back pocket of your jeans, Mekra!

“’Ne… how long have you been waiting here? Sorry we’re late. There’s someone I want you to meet” Iron pointed his head to my direction. I didn’t know what to do but threw my big smile. My white teeth usually successfully did the job. That’s what I always did back in the Green Valley when I didn’t know what to say when dad introduced me to his acquaintances outside the Green Valley.

Then I shoved my right hand and grabbed her right hand. She seemed reluctant to shake hands, so I took the initiative. I was the alpha, Yes, I was the alpha. I was supposed to be aggressive, but I added my being gentleman. Didn’t want to scare the pretty lady. With the chivalry, I introduced myself,

“Mekra…,” I paused when I wanted to say my Nasriantra. I didn’t think she needed to know yet. KISS. Keep It Simple and Short. This wasn’t about me, it should be about her. She was the one who mourned, right?

I finished my sentence,” call me anything you like” I smiled again with mixed feelings. Hope that wouldn’t be so obviously seen by her.

Then she replied almost like mirrored my line,” Adrienne, you can also call me anything, or just ‘Ne, just like Iron usually calls me.” Thus, I was sure she was my mate. I was ninety nine percent sure that she felt the same about me.
