As I began writing the chapter where Hel and Maddy are forced to stay wherever Stan has trapped them, I didn't think they would be forced to stay in a single room, but I should have expected this. 

It's a trope I love so much because it lives in a small place in my heart. 

When I was first dating my husband, we traveled seventeen hours to visit his family for the first time. I met my soon-to-be mother-in-law and sister-in-law weeks before, and now I was being introduced to the rest of the family. I was more nervous about this than anything else.

Until we arrived at our destination. As you might have guessed, there was a single bed available. There was no couch, only a loveseat, and the floor was vinyl linoleum. So, after much deliberation, we managed to pull together a couple of blankets, ease into this teensy bed, and eventually fall asleep back-to-back. 

We were so newly dating it was super awkward but remains a cherished memory.
