How to promote your books and get more followers?

Many authors struggle to get visibility on the platform and reach the needed requirements for the commercial status.

In this blog, we will try to give you some tips on how you may promote your stories and what Booknet tools you may use.

1. Regular updates.

The visibility of the book on the platform depends directly on the reader's engagement. The more views, comments, and likes you get - the higher ranking your story receives and consequently, the more visibility your book gets. Even a new author can get to the Hot New Releases tab or even to the Top.

You don't have to be a popular author with thousands of followers, even a totally new author can get featured on the Top widget. All the widgets are selecting books automatically depending on the reader's engagement. To increase the reader's engagement, you need to make sure to give regular updates. When you update the book with at least 500 characters, the story appears on the top list in the readers' libraries and they are more likely to prefer your story over other books they've added to them. If there are no updates for a long time, the book is lost in the library and readers don't come back to read the updates. Many readers tend to add over 20 books to their libraries and you need to struggle a bit for their attention. Even if your book is already finished, don't publish it in one go, but give it some time. Release one or two chapters per day and you'll see a better response.

Also, as soon as you update the book with at least 20,000 characters, readers get the notification about the update and start reading the book. Besides, it appears on the "Recently updated" widget on the main page and gets some additional readers.

2. Encourage readers to comment on the book.

Ask them questions about the plot, or share their opinion about the chapter at the end of each update. Small talks make authors closer to their readers and they start giving your book more affection.

3. Use Booknet blogs for promotions.

Don't hesitate to add a post with a brief description of your book, a sneak peek, or images of the main characters. You may also announce new projects you are about to publish on Booknet or give book recommendations. If you already have some followers, they'll receive a notification about the new blog. 

4. Promote the book externally.

If you have already a group of loyal readers that would be happy to follow you on Booknet and read your exclusive paid projects, don't hesitate to invite them to follow you. Those readers ready to follow you from one platform to another are your loyal readers and will be the first to buy your book when it becomes paid.

5. Add notes at the end of each update.

Ask your readers to follow your Booknet profile because in this way they'll get notifications on the books you'll publish here or on announcements about future raffles, discounts, and news.

6. Collaborate with other authors in this genre and ask them to recommend your book. If you spot commercial writers that write in the same genre as you do, you may ask them to recommend your book to their readers to get some additional paid audience. This doesn't mean that you should stalk the commercial authors and demand them promotions. A kind offers to recommend your book will do.
