I Have A Question!
Hey Dear Readers,
Don't be alarmed. It's just that I was talking to one of my readers, and she reads a lot of books, including dark romance. She told me the kind of FLs she like. And for a second I was stunned. Because she wanted women to be fragile and delicate.
I want to ask you. What kind of a FL you like;
1, Fiesty, strong, one who can fight for herself, won't accept abuse, who is funny, beautiful (not sexy), and not perfect, but just the right kind.
2. weak, who doesn''t understand whow world works, accepts what comes her way, do not have the guts to punish a wrong man, and doesn't stand for herself, even when she is perfect in the eyes of the world.
My qustion may sound weird, but I wish too know, because the kind of books we read, the kind of things we start to believe. I want to know, whether we want strong women in the society or fragile ones?
Please do answer me.
Love
Sarah

Log inHi Sarah. Honestly, I don’t mind both. It all depends on what kind of situations or pressures that shape the FL throughout the story. In one dark romance I read, the FL is locked up in a cell since she’s 5 y/o, so it makes sense if she develop into FL Num 2 that seems weak and powerless once she’s out. But after that I love to see her journey growing into a stronger character that knows how to take care of herself. Honestly, I think the power/dominancy balance between the ML and FL is the most important. If the FL character needs to be like Num 2 until the end, I would like to see how ML can care and protect her from the cruelty of the world. But if the FL grows into much stronger person, I would love to see how the ML would give up a little of his control/power to her in order to make their relationship works. Btw, badass FL that protects the ML sometime is interesting to see too (never get the chance to read a story with this kind of plot). In the end I choose my stories to read based on my mood. Sometimes I want the female Num 1, sometimes Num 2. So both characters are fine with me.

If I talk about real life, then I definitely want a strong woman who can face every hurdle in her life. But yk the kind of books we read, it's not necessary for the female lead to be always weak or to be always strong. As I am a big fan of dark romance, I prefer a weak female lead which will eventually turn into a strong one, only after knocking some senses into that dominant and cruel male. So yes in dark books, I do prefer them to be weak or fragile, initially. As for society, I want a strong woman for sure

Obviously, the strong ones.
Is a contradiction dear!
In real life we like to see more fragile women than when we hear about their suffer we show our comprehensiveness faking mostly. Cause when we see feisty women we already have the nickname for them starting with b- word or wh-word or s-word. We call characterless cause they don't obey the rules that suffocates all of us!
But...
When we read about a fragile women we start to insult her low character and ask from author to give her brain. We always enjoy the feisty women with brain and strong character!
I personally like to combine them when I write!
I truly enjoy your female characters they have this fragility only on their look but their are Amazons.
Readers need to know that a total fragile character don't lead anywhere like in real life!
PS
I used "we" cause we are all human beings and making mistakes is in our genetic so all we can missjudging someone else character!
Have a great week!
Fiesty women
Hi sarah I prefer type 1 who can fight for her rights ..according to.me a submissive women to a certain limit is acceptable but when it comes to her rights self respect she has to fight for it for this reason i loved the book his sweet bella coz however naive she was but she fought for her rights and made the mafia king bend on his knees
Sabby Yunus Ratlamwala, Also how can we forget Elena and aslan beautiful story where elena showed her courage and with love she changed 2 men derek and aslan
I like option 1 type of female leads....
I will go with the 1st option.... Not perfect but the right kind.... Her life her choice
I like the option 1
Me I would prefer a leading women, who got all this dominant, power like male characters
Undoubtedly a strong and feisty female protagonist, even when we portray our female leads as being impoverished or naive, she should always realize her value and worth.
Nicole Snyder, very true
First one. I like that type of female lead.
You can write her innocent and poor but can't make her fragile & delicate.
Pushpa Naik, Same here darling.as authors, we gotta portray things which should change society, right?
Tbh I prefer a strong female lead who knows how to defend and offend the one who messes with her, I clearly understand she'll have her weakness and vulnerability at some times. I would love to read how she drives the male lead mad, and knock some senses into him that she won't bend according to him ever.
I can be okay with a weak female ONLY if she grows up some brain and develops her personality. For me being fragile doesn't mean she shouldn't know anything to defend herself and while the story grows she must fight her fears and become such a strong woman that no one could stand against her.
Anie Styles, Got you darling
