She sensed a threat in his voice and continued in her whiny tone.

''It's not fair to cut my money when you use it to shower your ladies. An animal shelter, she probably only had that one white poodle she was pictured with. If a lady who runs a shelter looks like that, I'll work for you for free.''

She selected a random photo and held it up to Nik.

He blinked.

Something was wrong.

He picked up another photo and blinked again.

The woman in the picture was looking over her shoulder into the lens. A large poodle stood next to her long, slender legs. She wore a golden dress that reflected millions of tiny lights from the rising sun, ending in the stream of her glossy white hair.

And he became a pillar of salt.

He held his hand in the air to silence his sister.

''Out!'' He pointed to the door with a free hand.
