Faqs on The Loyal Vassal
Is Aldhambra (Al-Dhambra) empire related in some way to Alhambra in Granada, Spain?
Although the plot is purely fictional, it is also based on the palace-fortress "Alhambra" in Granada, Spain with its lavish culture and passion for knowledge under the ruling of Moorish monarchs.
Are the laws and tradition of Aldhambra also fictional?
Yes, like any other medieval ruling, laws are often based on religion and the reigning monarch.
How did you come up with the characters' names?
Most names are taken or inspired from the Bible as their characters somehow reflect of those who actually lived centuries ago. Josiah, for instance, was a young king of Judah who ruled with utmost respect and obedience to God. I specifically chose the name Josiah for the Duke because of his devotion to his empire, Aldhambra and his destiny on upholding the throne, similar to Josiah, King of Judah.
How long have you been writing The Loyal Vassal?
It was first published online as a short story in 2013. Realizing it has potential to be a novel, I began my research back in 2015, eventually wrote the first few chapters and released free copies on different online writing sites. It took me three years to focus again because of my profession (got really busy).
But I'm never going to give up writing this novel!
