Hullo! :) This was a beautifully written short story. I've always enjoyed stories steeped in mythology and folklore so it's probably why I enjoyed reading this a lot haha. I also really like your writing style and you have a way with words with your descriptions. I like how you transitioned between the past and present where it starts off with Alfonso as an elderly man reminiscing on his youth. And so, we see as a young man, Alfonso and his friend Erning are an adventurous and curious pair after they pass by the Acacia tree on their way to the festival. And then they try to see if they can spot any mystical beings that have been rumoured to linger around the area haha. And ooh so only Alfonso saw Hiwaga bathing in the lake but his friend didn't. I wonder if maybe it's because she decided to let only Alfonso see her or if he perhaps had a second sight? That being said, she appeared at the festival and they fell in love. In a way, I saw this as a tale of Alfonso telling his son the story of how he and his mother met and the love they had for each other even after so many years apart. Great story and I'll be back some time to start on your other ongoing story. Till then! ^_^
