IMPORTANT TERMS IN MYTHOLOGY

There are several terms that you shall come across while reading mythology. But people often get confused with the meaning of these words. So with the aim to clarify the meaning of those words, I have explained their significance and meaning in the best way possible.

Rituals: A series of religious activities performed in a definite way or pattern. For example, there are different Hindu rituals of death, birth, marriage, etc.

Tradition: A particular custom passed on by our ancestors as a legacy. For example, Hindus worship Lord Ganesha before beginning with something extremely important.

Values: Behavioral patterns or moral ethics taught to us by our elders. For example, family members always tell their kids that they should greet their elders by touching their feet.

Belief: A truth accepted by a particular group of people usually without any evidence or proof. For example, Hindus believe in the Hindu Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) as the most superior Gods in Hinduism.

Superstition: A false belief in something supernatural, which is harmful to the society and humanity as a whole. For example, a black cat crossing your path can result in something inauspicious and unwanted.
