“Good morning Mom, dad…Josie.” Sebastian greeted as he sat to eat breakfast with them.
“Morning son. How was your night?”. His father asked.
“Great. I missed my bed back home though. He said.
“Well your aunt can have it shipped here if you want.” His mother told him.
“Nah. He shook his head. I already willed it to Jake. He looked at Josie. Hey Jo.”
“Don’t talk to me.”
“I just hope you didn’t report Celine to your boyfriend so he won’t come here and beat her up too?”. He sent her a sarcastic smile.
“Ha ha. Very funny.” She sneered.
“So what are your plans for today son?”. His father inquired.
“I’m going out for a drive. Sebastian said. Celine will show me around.”
“Why her?. Josie grimaced. When there are other people to show you around?”.
“Why do you hate her so much?”. Sebastian had to ask. Just because she’s a servant doesn’t mean she’s not human.”
“I just hate her. Josie said. I wish she’ll drop dead.”
Sebastian stared at his sister in shock wondering what kind of demon had possessed her to wish death on an innocent person.
“I’ve lost my appetite. Sebastian dropped his cutlery, pushed back his chair and stood up. Please don’t expect me until much later.” He walked away.
“Are you okay your highness?”. Celine asked Sebastian when he came out through the front door. He had a frown on his handsome face making her wonder what had happened at breakfast.
“I’m fine. He said. He looked at her dressing and made a face when he realized she was wearing her maid uniform. Go change.”
“What’s wrong with this?”. She looked down at herself.
“You’re in your uniform. He said. Go change into something else.”
“I… She looked down at her feet. I don’t have um…better clothes. Maybe you should go with someone else your highness.”
“I want you to come with me. Sebastian insisted. Are there boutiques in town?”.
“I think so. Wait...what’s a bouti?”.
Sebastian laughed despite his bad mood and he shook his head.
“It’s a Clothes store. He told her. Where you buy clothes.”
“Oh. Celine said. I heard there’s one in town or two.” She shrugged.
“Let’s go then.” He gestured for her to go ahead.
Celine got into the waiting car and he got in behind her and closed the door.
“Take us to any clothes store in town.” He said to the driver.
“Yes your highness.” The driver nodded and drove off.
Sebastian took out his phone when he heard it ringing startling Celine because of the ringtone and he picked it.
“Hey Jake, what’s up?”. He greeted his cousin.
“Hey bro. Jake said. How’s Africa?”.
“Cool. Sebastian replied. I miss home.”
“We all miss you bro especially mom. Jake said. When are you coming to visit?”.
Sebastian chuckled. “I can’t right now. He told him. Even if I want to, my mom won’t let me.”
“So…found someone new?”. Jake asked. Diana came by yesterday.”
“Did you tell her I’m out of her reach now?”.
“Definitely did. Jake laughed. I thought her head was going to explode with how mad she was.”
“Nah. I’m still single but not searching. Sebastian told him. Josie told me my parents already found a wife for me.
Jake roared with laughter.
“It’s nonsense. Sebastian said. Parents don’t do that anymore.”
“Okay gotta go bro. Talk to you later.”
“Say hi to everyone for me.”
“Will do.” Jake said. Take care.”
“You too. Sebastian hung up. He looked at Celine who was busy staring out the window. You okay Ce?”.
“I’m fine. She smiled faintly. It’s been so long since I came out.”
“You’ve been stuck in the palace since my dad took you in?”.
“Yes. Two years.”
“I’m sorry.” Sebastian didn’t know why he was apologizing.
“Why are you apologizing to me your highness? If not for the king who took me in…I don’t know where I’ll be right now. I’m grateful to the royal family for taking care of me so I really don’t mind.”
Sebastian placed his hand on hers shocking her but he was glad she didn’t withdraw her hand.
“I’ll be your friend if you want. He told her.
“My friend?”. Her eyes widened in surprise. She studied his face. Are you sorry for me your highness?”. She withdrew her hand. I don’t need your pity.”
Sebastian opened his mouth to tell her he didn’t pity her but he knew she was right so he kept his mouth shut.
“Want to hear some music?”. He asked her as he removed his headphone from around his neck and passed it to her.
Celine stared at the headphone like it was a foreign object which it was then she looked at Sebastian.
“This is a headset. You can listen to music with this. Can I put it on for you?”. He asked her.
“Um…sure. She nodded.
Sebastian put it on for her but not before showing her where to skip the music, forward, backward and whatnot.
“Wow!. Celine beamed at him as the music started playing. This is wonderful!”.
“You like it?”. He smiled back at her.
Sebastian was glad he was able to put a smile on her face. She deserved to laugh everyday and he was going to make that happen.
