AGARWAL HOUSEHOLD :
“I still cannot, for the life of me, believe it!” Aarushi sighed.
Aarushi, Nyra and Myra were helping her get ready. It was her engagement day.
The last two days were just a blur for Kavya. It was all just about getting everything ready, shopping and then some more shopping.
“Neither can I!” Kavya mumbled.
“That too to my brother!” Kavya sniggered.
“I don’t think he is that bad!” Nyra shrugged.
The other three girls in the room almost broke their neck while turning to look at Nyra.
“What? Have you met him?” Kavya asked.
“Um..yeah.” Nyra shrugged and sat down on the bed.
The other three girls followed her.
“When?” Aarushi asked.
“Well, yesterday.” Nyra was loving the attention and intended to stretch it for as long as possible.
“Yesterday?” Myra frowned.
“Where was I?” Kavya asked.
“You were not at home.”
“What time?” Myra asked.
“What did he say?” Kavya asked.
“He was here for you. He wanted to talk about something important.”
“Important? What was it?” Kavya frowned.
“Okay, FLASHBACK!” Nyra waved her arm dramatically.
-FLASHBACK- (Nyra’s POV)
The bell rang while I was watching friends. I opened the door to find a tall, good looking guy. He looked flustered.
“How may I help you, now that you have successfully disturbed me?” I asked.
Yeah, yeah! I know it was rude! But he interrupted friends! No one is spared for that.
“You must be Nyra!” He said, giving me something which was barely a smile.
“I don’t know if I must be! But, yes, I am.”
I know! But, I was cranky!
“Can I talk to Ms. Agarwal?”
“Ms. Agarwal? I am her!” I didn’t know him, for calling out loud!
“No, I meant Kavya, your elder sister!”
“Oh. She’s not at home.”
“Where has she gone when I need her?” He mumbled to himself.
“Mostly for shopping. She’s going to be engaged tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I know. That’s the problem!” He frowned.
“What do you mean? Wait! Are you her ex or something? But I have known all her boyfriends! Its odd that I know everyone but her fiancé! I am her sister, for crying out loud! I should have known the guy inside out! I don’t even know how he looks like!” I blabbered.
Okay, in my defence, that guy called her Ms.Agarwal! Who calls their fiancé that?
“You are right! So, why don’t you know him?”
“It was all…wait! Who are you?”
“I am Viraaj. Arjun, your sister’s fiance’s best friend.” He lied. I, obviously, found that out at the end.
“Oh! Well, I can give her your message if you tell me.”
“No, that’s fine. I think I should tell her this. Can I come in and wait for her?” He asked.
I hesitated, but then he looked harmless and…..well, hot!
Hey! I didn’t know he was my sister’s fiancé! So, I led him in.
“I hope I didn’t disturb you! You must be going crazy with your sister’s engagement tomorrow!”
“Oh, no! I don’t even care. Neither does she, I think. No offence to your best friend, but what’s the point of the marriage if they are doing it for the sake of it?”
“You are right.” He sighed.
“Then why don’t you talk to your best friend?”
“I have talked to him. He agrees. But, he cannot do anything.” He shrugged.
“Sure, he can! Why not?”
“Well, because he doesn’t want to go against his father and he really wants to get Kavya out of this mess.”
“No offence, but I think the mess was created by your friend and not my sister.”
“Yeah. That’s the reason he wants to make this right.”
“And how is he planning to do that? By marrying her when he knows that they don’t love each other?” I argued.
“He knows it’s a mistake and that’s the reason he is having second thoughts.”
“Is that why you are here?” I raised a brow.
“Why did he send you? Why couldn’t he himself come?”
“He didn’t send me.”
“Then why are you here?”
“Cause I know he is right.”
“Maybe he is not right. Maybe, he thinks he is right and at some level he is right but he is wrong.”
He gave me a quizzical look.
“He is right about having second thoughts but maybe he has to do this. Maybe, this is the right thing to do?”
“And what if its not?”
“Well, he’ll never know if he doesn’t try.” I shrugged.
See! Its not just a hat rack! I am intelligent!
“I have talked to him on phone once, you know.” I said.
“Really?” He was playing along, which I would figure out soon.
“Yeah. I don’t remember much. Just that my sister was really pissed. Something about how I got someone fired. I don’t remember much of him.”
He smiled, “He thought you were a fireball.”
Nyra laughed, “ I remember being pissed at the receptionist. She made me wait and wasn’t even polite. Oh, wait! Was she the one who got fired?”
“Yeah.” He nodded.
“Wow! Well, I know one thing about him now.”
“What is that?”
“He gets influenced pretty quickly for a manager. I could be wrong.”
I was still pretty clueless, you guys!
“You are wrong!” He exclaimed.
“You are just saying that to defend your best friend! Who fires a receptionist just because some random girl complained about her!”
