Chapter Fifteen: Be Quiet

After school, Melissa, Samantha, and Andrew booked it to the parking lot. "Do you know how many people have been asking me if I have beef with the fire super?" Samantha asked, trying to catch her breath. "I know right?!" Andrew sputtered."Everyone's been asking me if Celedon is my brother or cousin or something." Melissa laughed. "Someone asked me if I was a super today." They all giggled. "You? A super? That'll be the day." Samantha said leaning against Andrew's car. "Anyway, let's get out of here," Andrew said opening his car door. "Don't forget about me." They all jumped. "Liam!" Melissa said, a hand over her heart. "Dude, you gotta quit doing that," Samantha said. "Haha, scared ya'?" He asked. "I came to hang out with you guys." He said doing jazz hands. "What?" Andrew asked, raising an eyebrow. "Remeber a few days ago? I said I'd hang out with you all. You guys said you were down for that?" He said crossing his arms. "Oh, yeah. I remember. I just thought we'd plan that sort of thing." Samantha said. "I mean, I guess it's cool. We're all going to the library to study." Andrew said, getting into his car. The rest followed suit. "Library? Wow, you guys sure know how to live it up." Liam said. "Hey, it's Monday. We all got homework galore." Melissa replied.

At the library, they all sat at the same table. Liam stared at them boredly as they all scribbled away at their papers. "You guys really need to learn how to have fun." He said. "Well, like we said. We didn't really plan to do much today, had we known you'd be coming along we would have done something different." Andrew answered while writing down a geometry question. "Really? Like what?" Liam asked, resting his chin on his hand. "I don't know, probably the park or the diner," Andrew answered. "Or the movies that's a few towns over." Samantha added. Liam shrugged. "You guys sure don't have a lot to do around here."  He complained. "SHHHHHHH!" Melissa said. They all jumped. "This is a library!" Melissa told them. "You might as well have glasses and be a librarian." Liam joked. "Yeah, well...." She trailed off as she finished writing down a note on her flashcards. "We should all go for a dive or something," Liam stated. Melissa froze. "Dive, like swim?" Andrew asked confused. "Do you know what season we're in right now? I mean sure it's pretty okay outside, but the water would be freezing." Liam shrugged. "I don't know, I think it's a good way to exercise. Plus the cold water helps your body burn more energy, so it's like an extra workout." Samantha made a face. "Sure, if you want to get hypothermia." She replied. "Besides, I don't think Melissa would want to go anywhere near water for a while," Andrew said trying to lighten the mood. Melissa blinked and waved her hands. "Unless it's a hot tub, nuh uh." She tried to joke. Liam laughed. "That fire super sure is a piece of work." He said. Melissa shrugged. "I don't know, I think he's not that bad." She muttered. Samantha practically did a spit take. "EXCUSE ME?!" She asked slamming her hands onto the table. "Please be QUIET!" The librarian called from the front desk. They all hunched over the table and whispered. "Melissa, what gives? I thought we were all totally against him a few days ago." Melissa whispered. "Yeah, Melissa I thought you were smarter than that," Liam said, looking really offended. Samantha, not even looking at him, put her hand over his face and shoved his head back. "This is a bestie conversation." She told him, still looking at Melissa. He leaned back, sputtering in an angry confusion. "Anyways, really?" Samantha whispered. "Yeah, well....I mean, we saw what Celedon was really like, and besides...." She trailed off. "Besides what?" Andrew asked. "The fire super? He kinda saved me, so he can't be that bad right?" She asked, a little hesitantly. "Saved you? What do you mean?" Samantha asked. "From the water. Remember?" Melissa replied. "Huh? I thought you swam out yourself." Samantha said. "No, he saved me..." Melissa said. "How do you know? You were practically unconscious!" Samantha replied. "Because he came to check up on me!" Melissa slammed both of her hands over her mouth. "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?" Samantha exclaimed. "PLEASE KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN OR EXIT!" The librarian yelled.
