The power outage caught us off guard, but neither of us moved. In the dark, with only the faint moonlight breaking through the clouds, being near him was all that mattered.
"Looks like fate is tired of waiting," Adrián whispered, his warm breath brushing my cheek.
"Maybe fate is just impatient," I replied, finally letting down all my walls.
The doubts, the fear, the painful past—it all faded. It was just the two of us.
Adrián closed the remaining space and kissed me. It started out hesitant and gentle, asking for permission. But as I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close, everything shifted. The kiss became a rush of relief, silent promises, and a love that had survived time and distance. It tasted like coffee, rain, and coming home at last.
When we finally pulled back, catching our breath, he rested his forehead against mine. His arms held me tightly around the waist, as if he never wanted to let go.
"I'm keeping you forever this time," he promised, kissing the tip of my nose.
"You'd better, Adrián. Because I'm not letting you go again," I said, my heart bursting with joy.
We walked back under the umbrella, laughing and talking about what was ahead. Standing outside my cafe again—where this whole chapter began—I knew second chances were real. Sometimes life takes you down different paths just to show you that no matter how far you go, some people are always meant to find each other again, in the same cafe, under the same rain, forever.
