Winds of Passion - English version

Episode 41

The morning sun streamed through the grand windows of Lady Penelope’s residence, casting golden reflections across the parlor. The house was quieter than it had been in weeks. The chaos of scandals, confrontations, and difficult choices had passed. Now, only the future remained—a future waiting to be built.

Gabriel stood by the fireplace, his eyes fixed on the letter in his hands. A formal request from the King. His service as a privateer was at an end. He was free to choose his own path.

Lilian approached, placing a gentle hand on his arm. "Are you sure?"

He turned to her, a soft smile on his lips. "There is nothing left for me in that life, Lilian. Everything I want… is here."

She smiled, her eyes shining with emotion. For too long, they had been pawns in a game of power. Now, they had the chance to start anew—together.

"Have we decided where we’re going?" she asked playfully.

Gabriel tilted his head, pretending to consider. "Perhaps a small estate in the countryside. Somewhere no one will bother us."

Lilian laughed. "And where you won’t have to worry about pirates and political betrayals?"

"Exactly."

He pulled her closer, his voice warm. "Somewhere we can finally live our lives, without the world trying to interfere."

And for the first time, they truly could.

Before they could say anything else, Damien strode into the room without ceremony. "So it’s official. The most feared privateer of the Caribbean is now going to plant potatoes and raise horses?"

Gabriel chuckled, and Lilian rolled her eyes.

"I wouldn’t say you’ll miss being attacked by pirates," Damien continued, crossing his arms with a thoughtful expression. "But I must admit, I’ll miss your talent for attracting trouble."

Gabriel clapped him on the shoulder in a gesture of friendship. "And I’ll miss your relentless insistence on pretending you don’t care."

Damien scoffed. "Nonsense. I just like being around when chaos unfolds."

Lilian watched the two men, a fond smile on her lips. "Will you visit us, Damien?"

He made a dramatic gesture. "Of course. But only if you stock quality wine in your little countryside retreat."

The three of them laughed, knowing that, no matter where life took them, their friendship would endure.

A short while later, Damien bid them farewell, assuring them that, despite the distance, he would always be near if they ever needed him.

Lilian turned to Lady Penelope, who had been observing the scene with a warm expression.

"I suppose even pirate’s need a compass," her godmother mused with a soft smile. "And Gabriel has found his in you."

Lilian felt a warmth bloom in her chest, and she squeezed Gabriel’s hand tightly.

At last, they were ready to move forward.

Months later…

The wind blew gently across the fields, rustling the golden grass surrounding the estate. The house stood before them, silent and still, as if waiting for the moment when it would finally cease to be just a remnant of the past and become part of the future.

The once-shuttered windows were now open, allowing the light to stream in and chase away the shadows that had long dominated the space. The scent of aged wood and cool stone still lingered in the air, but it was now mixed with the fragrance of flowers—the ones Lilian had insisted on planting by the entrance.

Small gestures. Subtle changes. But they brought new life to the place.

Gabriel stood at the threshold, his eyes sweeping over every corner of the estate. For years, this house had been a symbol of everything he had lost. The dark corridors held ghosts of memories he had never wanted to revisit. The echoes of long-silenced voices haunted the empty rooms.

Here, he had learned that solitude could cut as deeply as a blade.

But now…

Now, he was not alone.

Lilian appeared beside him, her gaze studying his face as if she knew exactly what was happening inside him. "Like everything in life, memories don’t have to stay trapped in what they were," she said, her voice gentle but firm. "We can create new ones."

Gabriel turned to her, absorbing the truth in her words.

For years, he had avoided this place. Now, Lilian was offering him something he had never thought possible… a chance to rewrite the story of this house. To transform a space haunted by the past into a home.

Without speaking, he extended his hand to hers.

Lilian interlaced her fingers with his, a simple gesture, but one heavy with meaning.

"Shall we go in?" she asked, smiling.

Gabriel took a deep breath and nodded.

Together, they crossed the threshold.
