Chapter 1:
My name was Maya, the youngest female soldier in Eron's pack. I earned a reputation for my fierce loyalty and unwavering dedication to the pack. Patrolling through the dense forest, an uneasy feeling settled in my gut. Rumors of rogue activity had put me on high alert. However, they did not know that I was so strongly committed to the pack for a reason - I was deeply in love with the alpha of the pack - Alpha Lucas.
It was probably since a long time ago when I still didn't know any better. I sneaked out of the pack's territory by myself.
Suddenly a rogue werewolf came bursting straight at me. The unsuspecting me watched as I was about to be knocked off my feet. Suddenly a strong arm picked me up and avoided the impact.
“How are you doing?” A low voice came from nearby me.
My eyes, which had been tightly closed because of the rapid movement, also gradually opened at the sound.
I saw a god.
He has the deepest pupils and the sharpest jaws in the world. The bridge of his nose stood powerfully on a face that seemed to have received all the blessings in the world.
"I, I... I'm fine!" I breathed a little sharply. I didn't dare to keep staring at him.
"It's good that you're okay. Don't run out alone again. It's too dangerous." He dropped the arm holding me and then shouted for his subordinates to take me back.
That's when I realized that he was the Alpha Lucas of the pack.
Looking at his distant back, I made a decision in my mind.
I would become a powerful she-wolf and someone worthy of staying by his side.
And through my hard work and perseverance for a few years, I was finally able to contribute my share in the pack. Today was no different, as I was assigned to patrol around the pack. Walking cautiously, I caught a whiff of something in the air. My heart raced as I recognized the unmistakable scent of rogues. Without hesitation, my hand instinctively gripped the hilt of my sword. Moving silently, blending into the underbrush, my senses heightened. In the distance, I heard the sounds of a fight, but the visuals remained obscured. Drawing closer, the figures of rogues came into view, surrounding a lone figure. Though I couldn't identify who it was, I knew it needed my help.
The figure was first surrounded by four rogue werewolves. But he acted sharply and broke out of the siege with a side-step.
However, at that moment a werewolf rushed out from a nearby bush. The knife clutched in his hand was reflected by the sunlight with silver light. The silver light was about to stab the figure.
With determination burning in my chest, I charged into battle, my sword flashing with every strike. My sudden presence took aback the rogues, stumbling back in surprise. "Get out of here!" my voice echoed through the forest. "This is pack territory, and you're not welcome!" Momentarily stunned, the rogues hesitated, unsure of their next move. Seizing the opportunity, I launched a fierce attack, driving them back. The clash continued, and amidst
the chaos, I glimpsed the central figure. It was Lucas, our alpha.
A surge of emotion coursed through me, realizing it was my duty to protect him at all costs. I fought with everything I had, my sword slashing through the air. The battle waged on, both sides refusing to yield. But I was determined, fighting harder than ever before.
Finally, the rogues retreated, tails between their legs. I stood tall, sword at the ready, watching as they disappeared into the depths of the forest. My breath came in gasps, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I turned to Lucas, my concern clear. "Are you alright?"
Lucas looked at me, his admiration shining through his gaze. "Thanks to you, we emerged victorious," he replied, a hint of gratitude in his voice. He asked for my name, and with a sense of pride, I answered, "I'm Maya, the youngest female soldier in your pack."
His eyes lingered on me, truly seeing me for the first time. I couldn't help but notice his striking features—bright blue eyes and long, cascading dark hair. "To show my gratitude," Lucas offered, "I'm willing to fulfill one of your desires."
My mind raced as I considered the possibilities. I had long held a secret admiration for Lucas, a yearning that now hung in the air between us. Without hesitation, I stepped closer, meeting his gaze. In a voice barely above a whisper, I revealed my deepest desire. "There's something I've always wanted to do," I confessed. "I want to kiss you."
Surprised by my boldness, Lucas couldn't deny the spark of attraction that existed between us. He leaned down, meeting me halfway, and our lips collided in a passionate kiss.
Lucas POV
Most werewolves meet their mates at 18, but at 23, mine remained elusive. I searched tirelessly, hoping to find a she-wolf who would complete and give purpose to my existence. Yet, every lead I pursued ended in disappointment time and time again.
Surrounded by papers and pack reports in my office, the weight of my curse bore down on me. Being an alpha without a mate cast a shadow of loneliness over my life, making me feel incomplete. Sighing, I rubbed my temples, attempting to dispel the despair that consumed me. Although my pack mates meant well, their constant inquiries about my mate only emphasized my isolation.
Throughout the past year, I encountered many she-wolves, hoping to discover that profound connection. However, none ignited the intense spark. I tried to force it, convincing myself any of them would suffice, but deep down, it was a futile endeavor.
Unable to escape my thoughts, I ventured out alone to patrol the border in the early morning. The solitude and crisp air provided a temporary respite from my relentless search. Lost in contemplation of my failed attempts to find my mate, a rustling in the bushes caught my attention.
"Who's there?" I called out, my hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of my sword. The ensuing silence unsettled me, but the darkness concealed the intruder's identity.
Suddenly, a group of five rogues emerged from the bushes, encircling me. Their malicious gazes and smirks hinted at their nefarious intent.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" the leader of the group sneered. "Looks like we've stumbled upon an alpha. This could be fun'
