Luna Galli, an 18-year-old freshman, hurried across the university campus, her bag slung over one shoulder and her heart pounding with excitement and nervousness. Today was the first day of her Introduction to Literary Theory class, a subject she was both passionate about and eager to dive into. She had always found solace in the pages of books, and the thought of discussing literature with like-minded individuals filled her with anticipation.
As she approached the lecture hall, she noticed the crowd of students milling about, chatting, and finding their way to their seats. Luna scanned the room quickly, spotting an empty seat near the front, perfect for taking notes and engaging in discussions. She made her way towards it, weaving through the throng of students.
Just as she reached the seat and began to set her bag down, a tall, dark-haired young man approached from the opposite direction. He paused, looking at her with a mixture of surprise and determination.
"Excuse me," he said, his voice firm but polite. "I was about to sit there."
Luna looked up, meeting his intense gaze with her own. She straightened her posture, refusing to back down. "I'm sorry, but I didn't see anyone here. I've already settled in."
The young man sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "I understand, but I was really hoping to sit near the front. It's important for me to be able to see the board clearly."
Luna arched an eyebrow, not willing to give up her prime spot so easily. "Well, it's important for me too. I'm Luna, by the way."
"Felix," he replied, his expression softening slightly at her introduction. "Look, Luna, we can't both sit here. How about we find a solution that works for both of us?"
Luna glanced around the room, noticing that most of the front seats were already taken. She sighed, feeling a pang of frustration but also a spark of curiosity about this determined stranger. "Alright, Felix. How about we take turns? One of us can sit here today, and the other can have it next time."
Felix considered her proposal, then nodded. "Fair enough. How about you take it today, and I'll have it next class?"
Luna smiled, appreciating his willingness to compromise. "Deal."
With the agreement settled, Felix moved to a nearby seat, still close enough to participate actively in class. As the lecture began, Luna found herself glancing over at him occasionally. Despite their initial clash, there was something intriguing about Felix. He seemed genuinely passionate about the subject, his eyes lighting up whenever the professor delved into a particularly interesting topic.
After the lecture, Luna gathered her things, her mind buzzing with the day's discussions. As she turned to leave, she found Felix waiting by the door. He gave her a small, apologetic smile.
"Sorry about earlier. I guess I was just eager to get a good seat," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
Luna chuckled, her annoyance from before already fading. "No worries. I get it. I was just as determined to claim it."
Felix grinned, a spark of camaraderie in his eyes. "You know, maybe we could study together sometime. It seems like we both care a lot about this class."
Luna considered his offer, feeling a surprising warmth in his invitation. "That sounds like a great idea. We can help each other out and make sure we both get the most out of the course."
As they walked out of the lecture hall together, Luna and Felix chatted about their favorite books and what drew them to the study of literature. Despite their rocky start, they discovered a shared passion that seemed to bridge the gap between them.
By the time they reached the courtyard, Luna felt a sense of relief and excitement. Meeting Felix had been unexpected, but she couldn't shake the feeling that their paths had crossed for a reason. As they parted ways, she looked forward to their next class, curious to see what new discussions and debates awaited them.
