Awful Issues

28- Midnight Confessions

Garnet POV:-

I groaned and hid my face in my hands, feeling so abashed that I kissed his cheek. I didn't mean to, I wasn't supposed to. I just want to thank him for making this card for me. It was so adorable and that awfully drawn flower is so cute. I just want to thank him for his effort for my forgiveness.. And I end up kissing his cheek.
I shook my head, trying not to think about it. I blushed furiously when I saw that card as my heart fluttered with deep content. I couldn't hold the urge to hug him for doing this inside me and I end up kissing his cheek. Ugh! Stop it and focus on work!

I took a deep breath and began to focus on my work. I tried not to think about it; which was so difficult. To focus on anything but him. I took the rose and twirled it between my fingers with a wide smile spread across my lips. I was stuck in a very eerie situation, where I cannot even think about the person I love. Left with no choice but to date Lucien for Roy's sake. What kind of awful issue is that?

I sighed and in the evening, I left for home.

On my way back home, I stumbled on Hailey. She is a truly nice woman, I have met her when I was locked in my home and she came to meet me. She told me Roy told her than he saw himself in me and that's why he will take my sight away and I knew he is coward, terrified to his own reflection. She is so sweet. She told me if she knew about it, she would have stopped him.

We were in a cafe now and she asked,

"How are you?"

"Fine.. You?" she let out an empty chuckle and replied, "Don't know. Whether I should be angry to love him or happy that I left someone like him.... But what can I do about that heart Garnet which loves him?" She asked with her voice becoming croaked. I lowered my head and wrapped my fingers around my cup of tea,

"He came to me, bend his knees and begged for forgiveness." I smiled.

"He should." She scoffed.

"He.. promised to never let anyone harm me and today.. He gave me this." I showed her the card he made. She chuckled when she looked at it and gave it back to me. A silence came between us and I could see the heartbreak took over Hailey's face.

"He loves you Garnet. He has never done such things before for a girl. He is willing to do anything for you." She said.

"I don't know about love but I know I am what he seeks. His peace." She smiled sadly as a tear fell from her eye,

"Take care of that pathetic idiot." She said with a laugh which shows her grief. I looked at her and replied in a croaked voice,

"I can't."

"Why?" This time, a tear fell from my eye, "Because at that point of my life where he is mine and I am his but at the same time I can't be his." Tears rolled down as soft sobs escaped my lips.

"What happened Garnet?" She asked concerned.

"There's a bottomless pit and the only person I can talk to is myself." I said.

"Did something happened?" I sniffed and wiped my tears and smiled,

"I am sure it all will pass." I said.

"I believe it will."She smiled back. I wiped my tears and stood up,

"Anyways, it was nice to meet you. I need to go."

"I will drop you off." She offered.

"Thanks." I smiled.

She dropped me off and Eri was playing in the garden with her friends from the school. There were playing with a ball.

I smiled and walked to them.

They threw the ball and it was about to hit my plant of white rose. I quickly caught it, hurting my hand but I didn't let it hurt my plant.

"You okay Nut?" Eri asked, concerned. I passed her a smile and gave her the ball back.

"Play carefully kids, this plant is important to me." I told them.

"We will! By the way, Brother Lucien is waiting for you. He is inside." Eri told me. I stiffed and emit deep breaths. I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked inside and saw Lucien cooking.

"Oh, Welcome home. I was just cooking dinner for you. My cooking is great." He said and walked to me. He pecked my cheeks and I passed him a faint smile, trying to maintain my distance.

"I will go and fresh up." I told him and went to my room.

I walked out in my casual shirt and trouser and went to Kitchen. I sat on the counter and saw him cooking,

"What are you cooking?" I asked.

"Pasta." He smiled. "How was your day?" he asked, turning to me. "It was fine as usual." I shrugged my shoulders.

"The rose says so." He said pointing to my ear. I took out the rose tugged behind my ear and said,

"He wants to apologize so he gave one to me everyday."

"Or perhaps he considers you as someone special." Lucien asked taking a step towards me.

"Maybe both." I replied honestly. He chuckled and pinched my cheeks, "That's why I love you." He then turn back to his cooking.

"How are your days?" I asked.

"They have become monotonous. Usual photo shoots, your presence and cooking. That's all I have in my life for now." I passed him a smile and asked,

"How much do you love me?" The smile of his face turned sad as a look of immense heartbreak was formed on it.

"Maybe enough so that you don't have to pretend that you love me." He said in a barely audible tone. I held my dress tightly and bit my cheeks to not to say anything. He was broken, he was hurting and I felt bad to see him like this.

"You know it-"

"That you love Roy! But, can't you give me a chance?" He asked desperately turning to me and holding my arms.

"You can't force me to love you." I whispered.

"I am just asking for a chance." He said as a tear fell from his eye.

"And what will you do if Roy loved me too? Are you willing to leave your love behind for your brother?" I asked. Lucien grip around me loosen as he moved back.

"Who will you choose?" he asked hesitantly.
