I didn't go to the party as a sexy vampire, I'm not really into those sort of things. Much to Blake and Logan's dismay, I went as a tiger. A cute one though. My costume was a tight body suit, with tiger stripes. My Mom wanted so desperately to do my hair, but I wouldn't let her touch it. Instead, I just got a matching headband with tiger ears on it.
I used makeup and YouTube for a whisker tutorial, and was actually shocked at how well it turned out. If I'm gonna be a tiger than I might as well look the part. It is Halloween after all.
I gave myself a once over in the mirror, then nodded with a purpose it seemed. I'd never really been one to feel self conscience about myself. I'm sure there are a lot of prettier girls than me, but my Mom has always told me that different people all have different things to offer. Therefore, all people are beautiful. I believe her.
"I liked my idea better," Logan scowled when I finally came down stairs, and I rolled my eyes. "But you do look adorable."
"What time's the party?" Blake asked, grabbing his car keys.
"Actually," I started glancing at the clock. "The party started two hours ago. I didn't wanna be early." I added quickly. With a shake of the head, Blake urged me out of the door.
I guess it was his turn to have a date tonight, so he got me to the party as quickly as possible. "Logan's gonna pick you up, okay?"
"On his death bike?" I asked wide eyed. He just laughed.
"I'll tell him to take dad's car. Don't do anything Logan would do, and say no to drugs." With that, he was gone.
I cautiously made my way up the driveway, feeling like it was the first day of school all over again. Some people the I noticed from school was standing by their cars engaging in conversations that I couldn't bring myself to comprehend.
I could hear the music blaring from the house, and I could feel my heart beating louder with every step that I took. If I had a hundred dollars for everytime I felt this way I'd have exactly two hundred dollars now. But I guess this is just something that I have to do. You have to do the things that scare you, because that means they're worth it.
I pushed the cracked door open, then then slowly made my way inside the house. Teegan and Sara's Closer was playing, and since its one of my favorite songs it actually calmed me down. I scanned the room, side stepping out of the doorway so I didn't attract attention.
Tugging at my costume, I tried to find Kathryn, or Patrick, or just... anyone that I could hold a conversation with whilst trying to make it seem like I wasn't looking for anyone at all. Kathryn's house was nice. They'd took all the furniture out of one room for dancing, and then left the other living room exactly as it was.
I glanced across the room at the snack table, then thought about going over to it. Then, out of my periphery, I noticed that guy that always stares at me in class looking at me now. I smiled shyly at him, then waved. He didn't wave back, he just averted his eyes like he always does when I say hi to him.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance, then noticed Patrick dancing with Row, so talking to them was completely out. With one last sigh, I scoped out a place to sit instead of just being a wallflower. Walking around to where the couches were, I came to a hault when I saw David. He was playing pool with some of his friends, and drinking a cool Budweiser.
It seems he was laughing at something funny that I didn't see, but the way his face lit up when he did was like seeing the answer to every question I'd ever asked. I smiled absentmindedly, then stopped quickly when he looked at me. My eyes widened in horror, and I mentally stabbed myself in the throat.
Great, I thought, staring at my feet. He catches me staring at him AGAIN. When I look back up, he flashes me a quick smile, then waves. I embarrasingly wave back at him, then give him an awkward smile.
I got so nervous when he looked at me, it was crazy. Instead of embarrassing myself even more, I continued on my route to the couch.
Before I could get there, I ran into Kathryn. "Whoa!" She said, grabbing both my wrists. "I thought you stood me up!" She laughed, giving me a good whiff of her cigarette flavored breath.
"I'm sorry I took so long," I muttered quietly. "I was waiting for my brother." I lied, breaking our eye contact.
"It's okay!" She grinned. "All that matters is that you're here now, and we can have some fun! Come meet my friends!" She hastily pulled me in the opposite direction of where I was going, dragging me upstairs to a quiet room. "Brook, meet everyone, everyone say hello to Brook!" My eyes widened at the fact that everyone was actually just three people.
"Hi!" They all shout in unison, and I realized that we were in Kathryn's room.
I was surprised to find that it was way more girly than I'd imagined it to be! Her walls were a nice shade of pink, and her queen sized bed had a huge Dreamcatcher on it.
There was a short blonde girl dressed as giant bunny at her vanity, trying on all of her make up - which - might I add, was a lot! It looked like a Sephora section.
There was an Asian girl sitting in her oversized beanie, dressed as one of the Sailor Moon characters that I can't remember the name of.
The only other person in the room was a guy, and he was dressed as Dracula.
Kathryn was a sugar plumb fairy, which I thought was wrong because she looked more like an angel to me. She had diamonds decorating both her eyes in the shape of butterfly wings, and her silver eyeshadow and thick, black eyeliner made her look even more magical.
