First day of high school can be fun, but it can be a nightmare for a girl who doesn't even know how to speak English properly.
So many classrooms and so many people, how am I supposed to know where are my classes? Maybe I should ask someone but I'm scared of people making fun of my English or what I like to call "English"
I'm walking through the hallways because I don't know where should I go. "Girl, stop being such a chicken and ask" my mind knows how to speak English, matter of fact my conscience knows, you know that little voice inside your head? Well mine knows how to speak English but my mouth doesn't, or well my tongue doesn't, its just so hard because I try but either my accent slips out or I just can find how to say the words.
I decide to stop being scare and just find someone to ask for directions, as I walk trough a big door I see a lady and I go straight to her but first I make a pause because I have to think what I'm going to say.
"Hey I need some help finding my classes" girl, that doesn't sound polite, is your first day at school. Please give a good impression ok, got it.
I walk towards the lady and suddenly 'm standing behind her but I'm way too shy to say something so I just proceed to touch her arm, yes...like a little kid asking for attention or something. I touch her arm but she doesn't seem to have feel it, so I just do it again but she still doesn't feel it. Before I could touch her arm for the third times, the words come out of my mouth.
-Hello. I whisper. She turns around and looks at me. Now I'm nervous because I have her attention, I don't know what to say because I didn't formulate a dialogue first, so at this point I rather just say whatever comes to my mind. Me lost, I said. Girl what in the actual hell was that-
-Oh, don't worry, I'm principal Kate. I'm here if you have a questions. She said kindly. Do you speak English sweetie? Of course she does, she wasn't speaking Japanese five seconds ago.
-Yes, I do. Im still learning, its kind of hard to understand and speak, but I'm working on that. I whisper.
-Oh honey, let's help you find your classes. She said, I don't know why I have the feeling that either she hates me already or if this is juts the way she is. See I have this thing- problem girl, not thing, it's called a problem. Call it the way you want in but I have this thing that I get the feeling that everybody hates me just by looking at me and I don't know why. As I'm walking with the principal I can't help but notice that this school is actually big, but is not like those schools that I have seen in movies or tv shows.
-Here we are and this is your schedule. If you need help finding your classes just look at the classroom numbers. Principal Kate said. Welcome to Wallace High School.
Well, we are on our own now so let's see how our first day goes.... Here we go
