CHAPTER 100: The Uber Lycan Doesn't Rest

Phoenix tossed and turned in bed, defeated by an insomnia that refused to yield. The dull ache in his arm was a constant reminder of his vulnerability, a concept he detested. He heard hurried footsteps in the hallway, distant, but attributed them to the changing shifts of the security teams. Nothing out of the ordinary. With a groan, he covered his head with a pillow, cursing his bad luck and the forced stillness.

In the south hangar, illuminated by cold neon lights, the atmosphere was tense and silent. The tactical vehicle, a discreet black van, already had its engine running. Marcus settled into the driver's seat with a mocking smile.
"Finally, boss. We were waiting for you."

Enid ignored the comment, directing her gaze to Lucian, Vanessa, and Anna, who were already ready.
"I'll repeat, this is observation and evaluation only. We enter through the maintenance access that doesn't appear on the official blueprints. No engagements. We document and withdraw. Is that clear?"

"Crystal clear," Vanessa nodded, adjusting the comms unit in her ear.

"And if whatever tore up the prison finds us?" asked Anna, her arms crossed.

"Then you run. The priority is to return with the intel, not to be heroes," Enid emphasized, opening the vehicle's door. "Let's move."

The doors closed with a pneumatic whisper. The van slid out of the hangar and disappeared into the gloom of dawn, with no other vehicle following it. The ghost operation had begun.

Half an hour later, Phoenix went down to the break room, looking for something to kill the boredom. The complex was unusually quiet, even for that hour. One detail made him stop: on the central table, forgotten, was Marcus's routine mission report. He always left it there before an operation, like a bad luck talisman.

Phoenix flipped through it with his good hand. "Berlin Prison. Damage assessment. Team: Lucian, Vanessa, Anna, Marcus."

"Lucky they didn't include me. Couldn't have done anything anyway," murmured Phoenix.
