CHAPTER 183: The Masterless Dog II - END

Enid, staggering between tears and laughter, moved even closer to Fénix, her gaze burning with obsession.

"Come on, Fénix!" she screamed at him with a broken voice, though charged with euphoria. "Transform, show me your true form! I want you to fight with me, to be mine in body and soul!"

The tone wasn't an invitation: it was a desperate order, laden with a sick attachment. She looked at him like an owner would look at her pet, eager to see what he was capable of.

Fénix, panting, glanced at her and shook his head, barely a thread of voice:

"No... If I transform... I won't hold up. I'll just be slower... weaker."

That refusal only inflamed Enid more. Her body trembled and, with a roar that shook the parking lot walls, she fully released her Uber Lycan form. She grew before his eyes until she reached nearly three meters in height: a colossal monster with tense muscles, claws that gleamed like blades, and red eyes that burned like embers. The beast breathed violently, each exhalation like a contained roar.

"YOU ARE MINE, FÉNIX!" she bellowed with a distorted voice, mixing human and beast. "IF YOU WON'T FIGHT, I'LL MAKE YOU MINE BY FORCE!"

Fénix, his body on the verge of collapse, used what little lucidity he had left. He ran staggering and took refuge in a nearby security booth. He slammed it shut and curled up inside, gasping, his back against the cold metal wall.

Enid's enormous shadow covered the entire frame. The Uber Lycan's claw destroyed the window with a single swipe, shattering the glass into a thousand pieces. But her body was so large she couldn't fully get in. She roared and pounded with fury, shaking the structure as if it were a cardboard box.

Fénix knew it: the booth wouldn't hold much longer. He took advantage of the brief distraction to slip out through a side exit, dragging his battered body through the parking lot corridors.

But he didn't get far. Just a few meters ahead, he stumbled and fell to his knees, gasping, blood streaming down his face. His body refused to respond. Behind him, the thunder of heavy footsteps approached, each one louder than the last, like hammer blows on concrete.

Enid had smelled him. And she had no intention of letting him escape.

Fénix could barely move. Every attempt to drag himself was torture: his hands trembled, his breath was ragged, and blood blurred his vision. Still, adrenaline kept him going, even if only halfway. The echo of Enid's footsteps, heavy and ferocious, pursued him like a relentless hammer.

Suddenly, he turned into a narrow corridor, just tight enough that an Uber Lycan couldn't pass. Fénix crawled in, his heart pounding in his chest, trusting that this narrowness would give him a respite.

Enid appeared instantly, colossal, roaring with blazing eyes. She tried to stick her head into the corridor, but her monstrous form wouldn't fit.

Then, with a grimace of frustration, her body began to crackle. Muscles shrank, bones readjusted, claws retracted. In seconds, the enormous creature shrank back into Enid's human silhouette, though still covered in blood and sweat, with reddened eyes and a deranged smile.

She entered the corridor like an elegant predator. She reached Fénix before he could crawl further and grabbed him with inhuman strength.

"Come here!" she roared, throwing him against the wall with such violence that he crashed through the concrete and fell to the other side like a broken doll.

Fénix was left semi-conscious, dazed, his vision blurry. He could barely lift his head before Enid pounced on him. She mounted his torso, immobilizing him completely.

And then the rain of blows began.

One.
Two.
Three.

Each punch fell with the weight of all her hatred and obsession. Fénix's face filled with cuts, with blood streaming down, with bruises that deformed him. He tried to raise his hands to defend himself, but he had no strength; he could barely breathe.

"All of this was thanks to you, damn you!" Enid screamed at him, hitting him with rage. "I saved you, I made you someone, and this is how you repay me!"

Another punch.

"You were my faithful dog, and now you turn your back on me!"

Another.

"LOOK AT ME, FÉNIX! You're mine, you'll always be mine!"

The blows continued without cease, with her crying and laughing at the same time, as if trapped between madness and desperation. Fénix's head was now a fountain of blood, the ground stained red beneath them.

His world began to darken. Sounds became distant, distorted. He could only think one thing: "This... this is how it ends..."

Until everything went dark.

"My life split in two the day you appeared, Fénix. Before you, everything was calculation, objectives, formulas... cold metal. But you... you entered like an unexpected spark, an error in the equation, and suddenly, everything I thought immovable began to sway. You were the only one capable of making me forget, even if just for an instant, my purpose. And that... I will never forgive myself for that."

"But, at the same time... I can't abandon you either. No, never. Because you're mine. No matter how much you bleed, how much you hate, how much you try to distance yourself. I won't let you die, I won't allow you to escape. We will be together for all eternity. Do you understand? For all eternity. You are my mark, my scar, my faithful dog, my wandering wolf. There is no chain you can break, because I am the chain."

"And yet... my purpose is still there, beating in my chest. I can't turn it off, I mustn't. I promised myself, I promised her. The creation of a new race, an improved future, without weaknesses, without errors. No one, no one will stop me. Not you, not anyone else."

"You'll have to accept it, Fénix. If you want to hate me, hate me. If you want to curse me, do it. But you will never leave me, because we are already bound. For better or worse, we are eternal. You and me... until the last breath of this world."
