The Proposal Preview

Hey gang, I thought it would be fun to blog little snippets of The Proposal everyday until the release! Below is Grayson and Amber's conversation after the billionaire's "Oh shit" moment. And what is an oh shit moment you ask, That exhilarating and terrifying moment when reality first sank in. That you had created a tiny person you would be responsible to keep alive for at least the next eighteen years:

Amber laid a hand on his shoulder, “You got this. You’ll make a good Dad if you just unclench a bit. It’s scary I know, but you’re a f****** Godwin after all.”

Grayson laughed, “Actually I was just thinking if this baby turned out like you then I’m in f****** trouble.”

She placed her hands on her hips, ‘What the f*** is that supposed to mean?”

“Good looking. Smart as f***. Stubborn. Endless energy. And especially if it’s a girl, I’m really f*****. I’ll likely wind up in prison and have to watch her grow up from visits behind the glass. Because if anyone hurts her, I’ll kill f******them. ”

His protectiveness turned Amber on a bit. Her worries about him as a father had most likely been in vain. Grayson would be a good Dad, a different kind than Leo, but a good one nonetheless. Hopefully, the arrival of this kid would help him refocus on the important things in life and help him step back from his workaholic tendencies.

“I don’t see the problem really. And I’ve had the same thoughts if this baby was like you. Leo says he won’t let you turn the baby into a complete nerd. He’ll help balance the kid out. But I have a feeling it’s a boy. Just like you wanted it to be.”

“I’m sure Leo did say that shit. He’s the real nerd though. Have you seen his doll collection? He gets pissed when I call them that. He also still watches cartoons. But a boy would be more convenient in more ways than one. A girl would have to keep the Godwin name at marriage to pass it on. And fathering a girl scares the shit out of me. But we’re likely to f**** this kid up regardless you know.”

 “Hey, it’s called anime for f**** sake! Every parent f****up from time to time. But between the three of us, we got this parenting shit. We balance each other out.”

“I hope you’re right about that. Whatever the case, this child will want for nothing. Have all opportunities to be successful in whatever endeavor he or she chooses in life. And he or she will be loved. My mother will likely try to kidnap this baby,” he laughed.

“So long as she brings him back, I’m fine with that. What you didn’t mention was this child would likely be spoiled rotten. But not on my watch sir. He’ll have chores and have to earn shit. A valuable lesson in life that things must be earned. I refuse to let my child be an entitled, spoiled asshole.”
