 CHAPTER NINE : RE- WRITING THE FAIRY TALE

“Hmmmmm; hmmmmm”, the ringing persisted. This time, urging me to check who the caller was. “Hhhhhhmmmmm, hhhhmmmmm”; I picked up the phone, turning it over, for the screen to face me. It was Casper! My heart jumped and I panicked, not knowing whether to jubilate or to be sorrowful. I stared at the phone, “hhhhhhmmmmm, hhhhm”, as it kept buzzing. I was debating; mind and heart were arguing it out. The mind opted to ignore the call and avoid hurt, disappointment and pain; while the heart called with hope and excitement to hear his voice and words. I let my heart win and picked up the call. “Casper!”, I inquisitively answered, my brains failing to understand why he was calling, when he was having the time of his life with his new love. My thoughts prophesied doom with no silver lining- he was calling to break things off, and ask me to do exactly what I was swathed with the whole morning already!
