Updates and the "Follow for Follow" Practice

Wait, is this how you make posts? :D It only took me a million years to realise this was even an option. Well, hello, everyone, nice of you to drop by!

First of all, I want to reassure anyone who cares that I am not dead. "Dragon's Warmth" has just been updated and "The Witch, the Demons, the Dungeon and I" will be updated very soon as well.

For anyone who's read "How Not to Be a Billionaire's Boyfriend" and is interested in what happens next - a sequel is likely. Yay?

I also wanted to use this opportunity to quickly share my thoughts on the "follow for follow" practice.
Let me be clear - I'm not saying do it or don't do it. Do whatever you want, these are just thoughts.

I know that we all live on the internet and likes and follows are the only currency we've got. So when somebody approaches me out of the blue with "Hi, will you please follow my account" I don't think ill of them, I know it's a common thing to do. And I probably WILL follow them, most of the time because I don't want to be mean. Very rarely because I check out their work and I actually like it. When it's the first, I have to wonder if either of us is really getting that much out of the whole thing. I mean, if I only followed you because you asked nicely and I really have no interest in your books, you are not getting any reads from me and Booknet won't count me as a regular reader. I really have no value to you. If you also followed me back just because you promised all we become to each other is a bunch of spam notifications. I'd like to think that people are a little bit more than that.

So here's the thing - you are welcome to approach me and ask, just be aware that if I do follow you but I find your books problematic in some way, I might pop up in your comments to say so and I might not always be your cheerleader. This way we're getting the numbers but at least we are also having some normal human interaction which is not purely for commercial purposes. Make sense? I hope it does. :)
