Behind The Scenes On - Taming the Zookeeper

Almost all of the animal-related scenes in this novel are based on personal experiences I had shared with these magnificent animals. 

I worked in a zoo from the age of 13 to 18. In other words, if I was not in school, I was at the zoo and even considered it my second home.

Many of the things I had experienced there, both happy and sad, aided in shaping me into the adult I am today. It was magical and most of the time I felt like everything around me was surreal like I was living a dream. 

How do you even begin to explain a close encounter with a fully-grown orangutang or learning how to handle a venomous snake?

Every day consisted of a series of unpredictable situations, not just with the animals, but with members of the public too. I had some of the most memorable moments of my life and also some of the worst. 

With this book, I hope that you might be able to have a glimpse into what it is like to work in a zoo and that you might be able to experience some of the things I had and feel what I had felt.
