How to Create and Delete a Series

Creating a series on Booknet is a rather simple process. First you need to go to your Dashboard that list all your options located under your name. Keep in mind the list varies from the App to the Online version and many options are only available online. So, if you don’t see something, I am mentioning it is most likely only available on the web.

You will see an option called My Series. Click it, and you will see where you can add a series. You need to create your series first, so you can assign it to the books you plan to place in it.

First click: Add series – This will bring you to a new window that you can then name your series and give a brief description of what your series is about.

Second click: Save – this will save your series name and description, so you can then assign your books to it.

If you made an error and need to correct the series name or description for any reason, you will see 2 buttons at the bottom right. One says EDIT, the other REMOVE. Click EDIT and you will get back to the window that will allow you to make your changes.

What should I write in my description?

Just like the annotation about a book, how you describe your series is important. Try to keep the description general, so it can encompass the entire series. Unless the books are covering different characters throughout the series, in which case you may wish to give a little more detail.

Examples from one of my own series:

BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL SERIES (2 books)**

Finn Nash has had his entire life planned out for him. Enter Brynn Shelby class recluse, but she has reasons to push people away. Reason's she fears may become reality, but when life chose to throw these two together, their entire lives get turned upside and nothing will ever be the same again.

** as you can see, this description covers both books, as it’s an ongoing book about the same 2 characters.

BENTLEY FAMILY SERIES (3 books)**

A series of Historical Fiction Romance Novels and Novella that follow the lives and loves of the Bentley Family, Lord Richard Bentley and his long-lost love Julianna Wadsworth in From the Ashes. The Novella- Love's Counterpart where you learn how Lady Annabelle Bentley meets the love of her life Cyril Kane and last but not least Forever Ruined where you will travel the world in search of a love that cannot be divided when Lady Clara Bentley-McAllister leaves her husband Benjamin McAllister, in search for answers that will either save their marriage or forever tear them apart.

** Now this description is a little different because there are 3 books in this series, but they cover different characters and storylines in each book, yet they are all connected because the characters are from the same family, so I needed a little more detail.

How to add a book to a series?

If your book is new, and you’ve already created your Series by using the steps above, then when you are putting in the information about your book (NAME, GENRE 1, GENRE 2, SERIES and BOOK NUMBER). You can add your book to the series then.

If you’ve already created your book, you will need to go to MY STORIES, select the story you want to add to a series, choose the OPTIONS TAB and you will then see NAME, GENRE 1, GENRE 2 and then SERIES. Now your saved series list should show up in this section. If you have more than one, click the down arrow and select which series you would like the story to be a part of.

Then on the next line you will see Book Number in the Series. Here is where you say where in the series does this book belong. Book 1, Book 2 and so forth. Once you pick a number, that is where the book will fall in your series list.

Do this for each of the books in the series in the order you expect the reader to read them.

How to delete a book from a series or remove a series list?

To remove a book from the list. Go to My Stories, Options and then, where it says SERIES, click on ADD TO AN EXISTING SERIES. This will remove the book from the list and automatically remove the book number. Remember to click UPDATE (at the top of the page) to be sure your changes have been saved.

To remove an entire list. Go to My Series. Pick the list you wish to delete and click REMOVE. Now you will not get a warning asking if you are sure you want to do this, so be certain you wish to remove the entire series as there is no undo. If you made a mistake, you’d have to go through adding the series and books all over again.
