Mel called Lily one night to invite her to the wedding. It’s not really an invitation, she wants her best friend to be there for her. She explained what it would be like, as simple as can be. Lily could tell she’s not looking forward to it.

“Are you not excited? Not one bit?” She began to be concerned.

“No, I’m not.” Mel thought about it enough times and still couldn’t feel any excitement. Klyde is definitely not the man she envisioned to get married to.

They were silent for a while before Lily hesitantly asked, “Do you want to back out?”

She pursed her lips. Somehow, she’s also clear that it was not an option.

“No. It’s fine. It’s not so bad. It’s just… I also don’t feel good about it.”

“Are you sure you want to do this? The Mel I know would do what she wants to do.”

“You’re right. But this doesn’t only concern me, though. There’s this baby…”

Lily took a deep breath. “Mel, I hope you can be happy with your decision. And if you can’t, I’m hoping you would change your decision. It’s not too late yet.”
