Odd Writer Confession No. 1

The other day I was reading a post about how so many new authors publish their first book and then complain about a lack of sales. The author of the post points out that there are 2500 ebooks published per day (I thought it was 4000, but hey) and these new books are getting lost in the mix because the authors need to do so much more than promote their book on social media. Then, they explain that, for a fee, they'll help you (the struggling author) manage your social media so that your book gets noticed.

I thought this was utterly hilarious.

Of the aforementioned 2400 books that are published each day... probably 2000 of them are pirated. I find pirated versions of my books for sale all the time. I could practically make a career out of finding jerkfaces who are trying to make $14 off an ebook copy of 'Whenever You Want' that they ripped off.

So, yes, it is true that you are going to get lost in the mix. It's especially hard when you have to compete against your own books.
