Werewolf's Bane - Heath
Werewolf's Bane - The Return Home
I'm the type of writer who discovers things as she writes. This morning I had the distinct pleasure of describing a heath. A peat-laden blanket bog, where low lying shrubs grow and litter a landscape like a blanket.
As I searched for the information, I envisioned my character who is this rugged man, a king, in fact, coming across this land and loving it for its solace. He wouldn't miss the heather, he'd plod through it, his fingers draped across the tiny flowers. A tune upon his lips, as his gaze casts out over the land as far as his eye can see.
I imagine the species of plant he would see would be of the Calluna vulgaris variety, and as a touching moment which shows his character's heart is leaning toward the beta's daughter. He is lamenting the sorrow he feels, knowing he will miss her turning from youth to adult, and woman to werewolf. I think of all my favorite parts of this book, it's this. I have this clear vision of it, and him standing there thinking of her. I hope it comes across in such a beautiful way.

Log incontemplating our mother nature is always the right thing to do. because it's as unique as our humankind which imagined werewolves and vampires.
