“Because there is a fine to pay if you want to back out.”

“A fine?!”

“I see you barely read the contract. Go check your phone. I have made sure you have the contract in your e-mail as well,” he said.

I quickly went to my phone that was lying on my nightstand and picked it up, before I went to check my e-mail. I looked through it, and there I found the contract attached to a file sent from Jack. I looked through the contract, and I found the fine you had to pay if you failed to fulfill your end of the deal.

“You added this!” I said.

Jack shook his head, as I looked at him.

“No, you just read too fast,” he said.

“I don’t have twenty million dollars to give you!” I shouted and threw my phone on the bed.

He smiled as he walked closer to me, and I swallowed hard. Jack had always made me a little nervous. He was just that kind of person who carried power with him, and you felt it strongly whenever you were close to him. I took a small step back, but he stopped, still with a good distance between us.

“Then make sure to fulfill your end of our agreement,” he said.
