Chapters 2 and 3 are Live, Plus Another Poll
First of all, I apologize for the amount of time it took me to release the next chapters of Emberhearth. Something rather unexpected happened in my personal life, and it required me to fly across the country to deal with it. I only just got back today. Delays like this will not be a frequent occurrence for me, I assure you. :)
First, I want to describe the results of last week's survey. A total of 60 people voted in the poll, and they decided that our main protagonist:
1.) Should be male (by a margin of 43 votes to 17)
2.) Should be a young adult (with 21 total votes)
3). Should be from Earth (with 34 total votes)
4.) Should be born into wealth/power (with a tight 19 votes)
5.) Should have a generally friendly disposition (also with a close 19 votes)
6.) DID not have a tragic upbringing (by a margin of 37 votes to 23)
7.) Will arrive in the new world alone (with 34 total votes)
8.) Our character will play as a completely new species (with 27 total votes)
How did these choices impact our character? I hope that you will read the chapters first to find out. :) You should know that even these initial choices have had unexpected consequences for our character.
Meet Alex Greylock, a 24-year-old shut-in from Miami, Florida. Due to his growing up in wealth and privilege, he has never worked a day in his life, and without any tragedy in his past, he doesn't have much driving him. Alex is a generally nice guy, but he is underdeveloped for his age. Our protagonist relies on his younger brother for more than he should, and since you all did not allow him to travel to Emberhearth with a friend, he is now more alone then he ever has been before. As you will see, his emotional turmoil caused chapter 3 to turn out much differently than it would have if he had a friend with him, or if he had come from a different background. :)
But, what's done is done. Now Alex has to survive in Emberhearth, and he is off to a sticky start.
Poll two is now open and will close on Friday afternoon.

Log inHi. Just wanted to mention that "young adult" in fiction means a teenager aged 13 to 18. With this out of the way, I'm off to read the chapters and vote.
Roza Csergo, Good point! I can see how my wording could have been problematic here.
Fortunately, Alex has the disposition of a teenager (at least for now). We'll see how his personality changes as the story continues.
