Thanks for checking out this spot. Like most writers/authors, the writing bug bit me in my formative years, but I ignored it. Thinking I'd rather not be some tortured soul trying to market my work for people to see and hopefully appreciate. Now that I've aged appropriately. I see things in a different light. When I decided to write my first novel, I went headlong into the science fiction genre. Initially I wanted to write hard science fiction, like Arthur C. Clarke. As I started writing, I realized I knew nothing about word mechanics, the components of a good story and the list goes on. I also realized if I wanted to do this, there were many people putting large chunks of their time into writing because they wanted to be writers. Good writers. Not like me, who had up until that point been procrastinating on writer's forums, reading books, and writing blog posts. Agatha Christie said she became a writer once she accepted its burden, meaning she would continue to do it when she didn't feel like it, when it was hard, when she didn't know enough. I've accepted the same burden, and endeavor to write on. Cheers, S.
